For my prelim, i used a popular app called video star which enabled me to have access to a wide range of fun effects. I chose to use video star because you can edit as you go, this aids with matching the visuals to the lyrics and cutting to the beat and having many close ups to help the audience identify with our artists which is a common convention of music videos as demonstrated by Goodwin and Stewart music theories. We chose to do 'Best Song Ever.' by One Direction as it is a catchy song that has lines that are easy to match with the visuals and where it didn't we used after effects like hesitating, slow motion, reverse and jump. This enhanced the video and made it better. We used a range of effects. I think using bright coloured ones matched the catchy beat. We also used a stop motion technique to make it more entertaining. We related back to Richard Dyer by taking his idea of star image shown through close ups to demonstrate their youthful energy. I really liked doing this prelim as it was a fun task and really enabled my creativity to explode into one video. I could have improved by doing more effects at the end as i think it got weaker throughout.
